Reversal of the one-way system on Kirkgate/Westgate:

On Monday 18 September 2023, work will take place to permanently reverse the one-way system on Kirkgate and Westgate, to the southeast side of Godwin Street.

Once complete, the one-way system will instead run downhill from Westgate towards Kirkgate.

These works are designed to facilitate the creation of a public transport corridor in this location to serve the area.

The parking bays on the north side of Kirkgate (the Mechanics Institute Library and Cash Converters side) will be re-aligned to accommodate the changed traffic direction.

To facilitate the reversal, Kirkgate/Westgate will be closed overnight between Monday 18 September 2023, from 5pm, until Tuesday 19 September 2023 at 6am.

The new revised one-way system will be in effect from 6am on Tuesday 19 September 2023 as the road re-opens. There will be signage in place to advise road users of the change.

Celebrating 150 years of the City Hall and regeneration around the city centre

Last week in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the City Hall, key economic stakeholders were invited along to the celebrations and taken on a tour of the city, which showcased the many regeneration schemes underway.

The tours included visits to One City Park, and key elements of the Bradford City Centre Walking and Cycling Improvements scheme.
