This week’s construction, traffic, and access updates
All traffic management outlined in the e-newsletter that was issued on 3 November 2023 will remain the same next week. You can view this e-newsletter by clicking here.
If you would like more information about what is happening across the city centre, including maps showing how the city is being transformed, please do see our website.
Work across the city centre is progressing well, including the new ‘super crossing’ at the Alhambra, new paving at Lower Kirkgate, and changes to the road network that will alter how vehicles travel around Vicar Lane, Great Cross Road, George Street, and West Street.
Update on Jacobs Well roundabout
Last week, we shared that the work to fill in Jacob’s Well roundabout is nearing completion and further progress has been made this week.
This week, work to compact the ground has taken place, and we have started to break down the wall around the inner ring of the roundabout.
Following the completion of this work, the next stage will involve the building of the new carriageway, including the creation of the new ‘super crossing’.
For more information about the work happening in this area please visit the Future Bradford website.

Upcoming bus and road changes in 2024
As shared in previous e-newsletters, from early 2024, new bus routes will come into effect and buses will no longer travel through the city centre. Instead, they will be routed around the core along dedicated bus routes to improve reliability and journey times.
More information on these route changes will be shared in the coming months.
For information on current bus disruptions and diversions around the district please do check the Metro website: https://www.wymetro.com/plan-a-journey/travel-news/bus-travel-alerts/
Reminder: Have your say and help shape plans for the South Bradford Park and Ride Scheme.
As shared in last week’s e-newsletter, Bradford Council, in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, want to hear your views on the South Bradford Park and Ride Scheme.
The scheme aims to improve travel times, reduce congestion and reduce pollution levels along Manchester Road, which is a key route into and out of the city.
Please click here for more information and to have your say. The consultation closes on Thursday 21 December 2023.
