John Street and Manor Row

Bridge Street and Bradford Interchange Visualisation

What is happening here?

Changes are being made to the road network so that it better accommodates buses and helps make journeys more reliable.

Please see the map below for more details.

Which roads will be affected?

A map detailing the changes John Street and Manor Row will see as part of the Bradford City Centre Walking and Cycling Improvements Scheme. There are two captions on the map. Caption one: The existing taxi rank on Upper Piccadilly will be removed soon as part of the Top of the Town improvement scheme. Caption two: John Street, Upper Piccadilly, Manor Row and Cheapside will become part of a major public transport route to complement the re-routing of buses around the city centre. The roads will still remain open to general traffic.

What effect will construction have on the road network?

We are anticipating that all roads will remain open to traffic, as they currently are, until spring 2024. Until then, there may be temporary lane closures, temporary traffic lights and temporary changes to footpaths to enable us to make changes to the highway network. However, you will still be able to access all roads by car, van, motorcycle etc.

Please plan your journey ahead of time as we expect there to be delays. From spring 2024, Hall Ings, Bank Street, Market Street, Broadway and some of Bridge Street will not be accessible by car with exceptions for deliveries only.

There will not be significant construction activity in the John Street and Manor Row area and so there is no specific construction activity to outline for the area.

To see what construction will happen in the vicinity, please visit the Cheapside and Lower Kirkgate page and the Godwin Street, Sunbridge Road, Kirkgate and Westgate page.
