Manchester Road/Croft Street - In Consultation
We recently contacted local residents and businesses via letter to provide notification of this consultation. Enclosed within the letter was a map of the proposed camera enforcement locations for the Manchester Road/Croft Street junction.
The map labelled an existing no right turn from Manchester Road onto Senior Way. This label was incorrect.
The existing no right turns, which are proposed to be enforced by camera as part of this consultation are:
Manchester Road onto Croft Street
Croft Street onto Manchester Road.

Why camera enforcement is needed
The key junction of Manchester Road and Croft Street in Bradford city centre experiences high volumes of traffic every day. A marked yellow box junction and turning restrictions are currently in place to keep traffic moving and prevent vehicles from blocking the intersection. However, these restrictions are regularly ignored. Ignoring these restrictions can cause congestion, slow traffic, create conflict with other vehicles and pedestrians, and in extreme cases, prevent emergency services from passing through quickly.
Bradford Council is proposing to install traffic cameras to enforce turning restrictions and encourage correct use of the box junctions. Enforcement will help to keep traffic moving smoothly, improving safety for all road users, and reducing the risk of collisions.
This map shows Bradford Council’s plans to install cameras on the junction of Manchester Road and Croft Street, to enforce existing traffic restrictions. New cameras will enforce existing box junction restrictions and no right turn restrictions onto Croft Street and Senior Way. The map is illustrative and indicates existing permitted traffic flows and new camera enforcement locations.
How it will work
If the proposals to install cameras are approved, during the first six months of operation, warning notices will be issued for first-time offences. Subsequent offences will incur a penalty charge notice (PCN) of £70, discounted to £35 if paid within 21 days. Appeals will follow the existing process for parking and camera fines.

As part of the decision-making process, a six-week public consultation took place from Wednesday 5 August to Wednesday 16 September 2026.
