Shipley Airedale Road / Leeds Road Junction
Cameras are currently operational/will be operational from (date TBC) to enforce no-right-turn restrictions.
Why camera enforcement is needed
The junction of Shipley Airedale Road and Leeds Road is part of a key route connecting Bradford to Shipley and Leeds. This is an important route for commuters and through-traffic across West Yorkshire. High traffic volumes make safe and predictable driving essential. However, signed traffic restrictions are regularly ignored at this busy location.
To improve safety and reduce delays, cameras will be/have been installed to enforce existing no-right-turn restrictions. Illegal right turns at this junction have been identified as a significant safety risk, causing collisions, disrupting traffic flow, and creating conflicts with other vehicles. Enforcement will help ensure smoother traffic movement and reduce the risk of accidents.

How it will work
During the first six months, warning notices will be issued for first-time offences. Subsequent offences will incur a penalty charge notice (PCN) of £70, discounted to £35 if paid within 21 days. Appeals will follow the existing process for parking and camera fines.
All sites will be monitored continuously. If a high level of compliance is maintained over a 12-month period, cameras may be decommissioned.
