Construction update
Planting at Norfolk Gardens is now fully complete, with just a few final touches to the rest of the area remaining. The space will then be opened once the newly installed landscaping has been allowed time to settle.
The new 10,000 square metre park area marks a significant milestone in the city centre’s transformation, creating a major green space in the heart of Bradford for all to enjoy.
Over 7,700 plants and shrubs of 173 different species, including 57 trees have been planted in the area within the last few weeks. Tree species include birch, rowan, maple, lime, comma and Juneberry with cherry trees which have been planted to form a boulevard of trees.
New paving, footways and cycleways that extend to Nelson Street have also been added, incorporating reclaimed materials and new street furniture.

Event in Bradford: The Big Brass Blowout
The latest event planned as part of Bradford’s City of Culture year takes place this weekend when The Big Brass Blowout comes to town.
A celebration of brass music, the event brings together a variety of class brass acts for three days and nights of music across Bradford district.
The event will include free to watch performances right outside St George’s Hall, from 1pm-4pm on Saturday 12 April, from artists like The New York Brass Band.
You can find out more about the event by clicking here.
Reminder: Bradford Interchange Bus Station
Bradford Interchange bus station reopened to the public in January 2025, and bus services are operating from the upper concourse.
Due to ongoing resurfacing works, around six bus stands will stay out of action until at least April 2025. Therefore, some bus services will remain on-street until that time.
The quickest route from Bradford Interchange to Nelson Street, where the temporary on-street bus stops are located, is via the back entrance of the bus station.
